Daydream Believer II Back

Watermarked because this is the first thing I've posted that was collaborative. JP is a friend of my uncle, who is also a photographer (but not for fashion).

Anyway, this collection was called "Daydream Believer" ...because I couldn't really think of a better name! As is typical for my designs, it's kinda whimsical, kinda retro, so I thought the name fit. It was originally my first collection when I was at school, done wayyyy back in 2005, I think. (Maybe 2006, actually? Irrelevant.) The class was knitwear, we had to create 3 outfits entirely or mostly out of cut-and-sew knit fabrics. Anyway, I liked the collection so much that I'd always planned to extend it beyond the original 3, and I finally got around expanding it to 6 for purposes of this photoshoot.

This outfit is half original group, half expanded group... The top is from the original three outfits. The original bottom got scrapped from the collection as soon as I made it, to be replaced with a pair of color blocked capri leggings. But I used someone else's block and the fit was off. They disappeared shortly before the photoshoot and I decided to make this skirt instead. You can't really appreciate the print in this shot, but it's fabulous: it's newspaper clippings with an overlay of Gil Elvgren pinups.
